GYRO CLUB OF ROCHESTER

President's Report

November 2, 2006

  1. Membership

Active membership 92: Lost several good friends and added new members for a net loss of four during 2006.  The objective for our club, and for perhaps for all of GYRO, for the coming year is to increase younger membership.  One of our members recently quipped, "the average age of our GYROS is deceased".

  2. Activities

Our club remains very active.  We maintain reasonable attendance at District and International GYRO Conventions, have reasonable attendance at our weekly meetings and hold an average of one special event (usually a BYOB) each month.  Some events of special note (all of which included the ladies) are:

    • Valentine's Day lunch complete with barbershop quartet and roses for the ladies
    • St. Patrick's Day Bash
    • Derby Day Party
    • Pig and Steak Roasts
    • Golf and tennis outing
    • Lobster bake
    • Veteran's Day Celebration

The highlight of the year is our Christmas Dance and installation dinner, and optional black-tie affair, in December.

  3. Finances

I am happy to report that our club in on a sound financial footing.

  4. Club ideas for the good of GYRO

As mentioned previously, place emphasis on increasing numbers of "younger members" to grow GYRO.

    Respectfully submitted,
    Bernard D. Wiese,
    Rochester GYRO Club
